The Cage
At times the bird inside the cageIs very dear to me.At times my thoughts go with the birdThat flies alone and free.
Should I let loose the bird I haveTo coax the wild one hereSuch change of roles would only makeThe other one more dear.
Without the cage I cannot wantOr love or think or say;Its barriers limn the forms of lifeAs sun-spokes shape the day.
